What to Expect Immediately After the Procedure
Color Intensity: Your brows will appear significantly darker and more defined immediately after treatment. This is normal. The color will soften by 30–50% as they heal.
Swelling & Redness: Mild swelling and redness around the brow area are common and typically resolve within 24–48 hours.
Dryness & Scabbing: You may feel a slight tightness, and a thin, flaky scab will form around day 3–5. Do not pick or scratch the scabs.
Color Disappearance (Ghosting Phase): Around days 7–14, as the scabs flake off, the pigment may appear to vanish or look very light—this is a normal part of the healing process. The true color will resurface and develop between weeks 4–6.
Touch-Up Needed: One touch-up session is highly recommended 6–10 weeks after your initial procedure to refine shape, color, and address any areas that may have faded.
Healing Timeline & Aftercare (Day-by-Day)
Day 1 (Procedure Day)
Blot Frequently: Gently blot your brows every 30-60 minutes with a clean, damp cotton pad or sterile wipe to remove any lymph fluid. This minimizes scabbing.
Avoid Water: Keep your brows completely dry for the first 24 hours. No showering directly on your face, no washing your hair over your brows.
Avoid: Makeup on or around the brows, touching your brows with unwashed hands, excessive sweating, direct sun exposure.
Days 2–7 (Scabbing & Flaking Phase)
Keep Dry (Mostly): Continue to keep your brows as dry as possible. When showering, keep your face away from the direct spray.
Gentle Cleaning (if needed): If your brows feel tight or appear to have a buildup, very gently dab with a slightly damp cotton pad. Do NOT rub.
Apply Ointment (Thin Layer): Starting on Day 2 or 3 (or as advised by your artist), apply a very thin layer of the provided healing ointment (or Aquaphor, A&D) with a clean cotton swab once or twice a day to keep them moisturized and help with flaking. A rice grain amount per brow is sufficient.
DO NOT Pick: Allow any scabs or flakes to come off naturally. Picking can lead to pigment loss and scarring.
Avoid: Makeup on the brows, excessive sweating (heavy exercise), direct sun exposure, swimming, saunas, hot tubs, steam, facial treatments, sleeping on your face.
Week 2–4 (Ghosting Phase & Color Resurfacing)
Flaking Ends: Most scabbing should have come off by now.
Color Fades (Temporarily): Your brows may appear very light or as if the color has disappeared. This is the “ghosting” phase and is completely normal. The color will begin to resurface.
Continue Gentle Care: You can gently wash your face, avoiding harsh scrubbing on the brows.
Moisturize: Continue to keep brows hydrated with a fragrance-free, non-SPF lotion or balm if they feel dry.
Avoid: Exfoliation, harsh facial products (retinols, acids) directly on or around the brows, prolonged sun exposure.
Week 4–6 (Final Color Development & Touch-Up)
True Color Revealed: The pigment will have fully bloomed, revealing the true healed color and intensity.
Book Your Touch-Up: This is the ideal time to return for your mandatory touch-up session. This appointment perfects the shape, density, and color for long-lasting results.
Begin SPF: You can now begin to use a daily SPF 30+ on your brows to protect them from fading.
Avoid for 10-14 Days (or until scabs have fully shed)
❌ Lipstick, gloss, or any makeup on lips
❌ Makeup on or near the brows (especially foundation, concealer, brow products)
❌ Excessive sweating, heavy exercise, gym workouts
❌ Swimming, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms
❌ Direct sun exposure or tanning beds
❌ Facial treatments, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or harsh skincare products on the brows
❌ Picking, scratching, or rubbing the brows
❌ Sleeping on your face
Long-Term Care Tips
✔ Daily SPF: Use SPF 30+ balm or sunscreen on your brows to prevent premature fading caused by UV exposure.
✔ Gentle Cleansing: When washing your face, be gentle around your brows.
✔ No Harsh Products: Avoid applying retinol, AHAs, BHAs, chemical exfoliants, or anti-aging creams directly on your brows as they can cause pigment degradation over time.
✔ Maintenance Touch-Ups: To maintain crispness and color, plan for annual or biennial touch-up sessions (every 1-3 years, or as needed).
✔ Hydration: Keep your skin generally hydrated.
